About

The Galecia Group was founded in 2000 to support public, academic and special libraries as well as organizations that support these institutions.

We help libraries prepare for the future, analyze delivery and materials handling systems, evalutae and recommend technology, design public access computing environments, and help libraries prepare for the future.

Lori Bowen Ayre (bio, cv) is the founder and principal consultant. She has managed technology for almost 20 years and holds an MLIS from San Jose State University.

The Galecia Group works exclusively with libraries and organizations supporting libraries. We’ve taken the time to understand the complications associated with integrating third party technology solutions with the ILS, the challenges of working within a larger municipal entity like the county or city, the never-ending problems of shrinking budgets and short-handed staff, and of course the joys and headaches of working with the public.

I, Librarian

Rule 1: Librarians must ensure that information continues to be available and readily accessible and usable to all people regardless of their intellect, technical abilities, economic standing, location, race, color, creed, gender, sexual preference and religion (or lack thereof).

Rule 2: Librarians must protect the privacy of the people who use their services.

Rule 3: Librarians must explore and take leadership positions in the development of new technologies in order to ensure that they are implemented in ways that do not conflict with the first two rules.

–Inspired by Isaac Asimov’s Three Rules of Robotics
