Hi MJ,

We're still working out the details but are thinking about things like planning and evaluation documentation related to migration, technical staffing (planning, training), providing shared support options, setting up mentoring relationships with other libraries, expanding the number of developers and support providers involved with Evergreen (and possibly other open source library system products), and creating ways for people with similar development/enhancement interests find one another. The focus is on building internal resources within the libraries and focusing less on outside vendors to provide all the answers. How that will shape up exactly is still to be determined. Your ideas are welcome!

Hi Ben,
The grant is not for development of a new ILS but to provide infrastructure support for the existing ones.

Wow! Congratulations!

Any indication of whether this will be a new OS system or an adoption or adaptation of an existing one?

Thanks, and congrats again!

Hi Lori. Thanks for the heads up. I think that the events of the last few weeks (months :) ) show how timely was your session at Koha-Con about not replicating the vendor/passive, helpless consumer relationship.

The name of my blog is actually "Librarians Matter". "Library Matters" is the blog of Joann Ransom from Horowhenua Library Trust who originally commissioned Koha.

Thanks for the additional info on NISO's strategy. Though I was complaining (a little), I have found the Best Practices document very useful.
Still looking forward to the ISO standards...

The new John Lennon biography just exploded onto the screen. And of course, I did the usual--I hopped over to the KCLS website to place a hold on it.
I don't know how we do it, but we've somehow got to take great bookfinding tools like this and eliminate that total jump to the library website in order to do library business on the title.
Anyway--this is a very cool tool.
