Tweens
I'm in between attending Annual in Orlando and taking a river raft trip on the Klamath. The river trip will be the perfect antidote to the conference and will give me an opportunity to think about some of the great ideas I heard, ensure that I'm adequately overwhelmed with work when I return and to experience a surface other than concrete.
I love river trips because they are the perfect metaphor for life.
- Things happen quickly enough on their own, there's no need to hurry.
- You need a few critical supplies but not really very much STUFF to get along quite happily.
- It works best if you go downstream rather than row against the current.
- There are lots of ways to get down the river and all of them are just fine. It just depends on what you like.
- There are lots of people on the trip you normally wouldn't choose as friends and it turns out they each have their unique charm.
- Everything goes much better if have some basic agreements about who will be in charge and how we'll collectively move the boat to the right, left and backwards.
- And, its critical to have a guide who knows what the hell s/he's doing.
So, wish me luck on the Klamath! When I get back, it will be back to work -- refreshed. Ready to dig into my projects, get back to my routine, and to work on ensuring we get a decent guide for the next trip -- the one in November.
