In the brain, the synapse is the place where molecules leap from one neuron to another possibly creating enough energy to initiate action. In order for the potential action threshold to be reached, the excitatory synapse must be strong. In the library, the patron initiates action by walking into the library or browsing to the library website. If all goes well, the excitatory synapse between patron and library will be strong and action will be initiated. Keynote presentation at TechConnections 8, Columbus, Ohio.
